Lifesavers and leathery tanned skin at Bondi Beach. Koalas observing their habitat being destroyed from a gumtree. And kangaroos standing tall in open land. Anne Zahalka’s work is distinctively Australian. With a career spanning more than 40 years, Zahalka is considered one of the country’s most highly regarded photo-media artists, exploring cultural and environmental tensions through a critical and humorous lens. Throughout her career, she has hosted 40 solo exhibitions worldwide, including at the Australian Embassy in Washington, the Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Tokyo, and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, South Korea.

Now, 100 of her best works will be brought together and showcased at Darlinghurst’s National Art School.
