Nestled in the junction between Redfern and Surry Hills is the latest hotel destination Sydney’s inner-city neighbourhood has to offer. As of February, The Eve Hotel Sydney has opened its doors to the city’s cadre of creatives, tastemakers and travellers who are looking for a memorable stay. Following the debut of dining and lifestyle precinct Wunderlich Lane, the commencement of The Eve marks one of the final additions to the latest hospitality outpost on the corner of Cleveland and Baptist Street.
SJB director and architect Adam Haddow was tasked with dreaming up The Eve’s architectural concept. Rather than looking internationally for design inspiration, Haddow and his team looked locally, embracing the Australian landscape and celebrating uniquely local experiences. Individual design touches have been scattered throughout the hotel, including custom sculptural lighting by Australian designer, Henry Wilson. Bright rendered walls and white glazed breezeblocks add texture and lightness, contributing to a spacious, welcoming atmosphere. Thoughtful touches and bespoke amenities from local boutique retailer, Saardé add to the hyperlocal experience
“Our design philosophy for The Eve is to create a space that supports local designers and artisans whilst rooting the hotel contextually by drawing inspiration from the surrounding forms and Australiana palette of Sydney,” says Charlotte Wilson, Co-Lead of SJB’s Sydney interior design team. “The hotel features rich handcrafted layers of ceramics, fabrics and continuous views to nature – this hotel is set to breathe new life into how we design locally.”

To helm the food and beverage, The Eve enlisted the help of Liquid and Larder — the minds responsible for Bistecca, Alfie’s, and The Rover. The team has notched up the hospitality experience with two in-hotel outlets. Head to the European-style lobby bar Bar Julius for a stiff aperitif with elevated bistro fare. Upstairs, Mexican and Modern Australian cuisine find a home in Lottie. The second of the hotel’s culinary offerings is a tribute to the sun-drenched coastlines of the Mexican Riviera.
On the top deck, there’s a rooftop pool for swimming and cabanas for lounging. Stretching at 20 metres long, the Sukabumi tiled watering hole is open for laps from 7AM-10PM. For those seeking wellness, the in-precinct Parlour Room is a dedicated spot for premium facial and relaxation treatments.

The hotel is conveniently situated in Redfern, a slingshot away from Crown Street’s never-ending crib sheet of bars, eateries and cafes. Guests can also sample world-class restaurants including pizzeria Regina La Pizzeria and upper-end Southeast Asian from Island Radio. For those looking to sink a cold beer, turn to Baptist St Rec Club.
At The Eve, culture and life abound. To celebrate the launch, guests can indulge in a thoughtfully curated package that celebrates the culinary, cultural and luxury accommodation offerings unique to The Eve. ‘The Reveal’ package includes overnight accommodation in your room or suite of choice, a signature cocktail (for two) at Bar Julius and a bespoke EVE gift for guests to take home. The Reveal starts from $519 per room for two guests, available from February 14 to June 30, 2025. Some conditions and blackout dates apply. theevehotel.com.au.
