For over 30 years, the iconic American fashion house Ralph Lauren has been dedicated to raising awareness in the fight against breast cancer, a cause that affects 20,428 women annually, according to 2022 statistics from Cancer Australia. The brand’s commitment began in the mid-1980s when Ralph Lauren’s close friend, Nina Hyde, then fashion editor for The Washington Post, was diagnosed with breast cancer. At that time, the cancer lacked the visibility it has today, and the brand was eager to shine a light on it.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year Ralph Lauren has partnered with the McGrath Foundation as part of their 2024 “Pink Pony” campaign, which supports programs for research, screenings, early diagnosis, treatment, education, and patient navigation.

As part of this collaboration, Ralph Lauren has launched the “Pink Pony” Collection— a sporty selection of men’s, women’s, and children’s accessories. 25 per cent of the funds from each item sold from the collection will be donated to the foundation. In addition, the brand has dropped the “Live /Love” collection  which features spongey jumpers and sleek shirts adorned with the phrase “Live well. Be well”. The messaging encourages wearers to prioritise their health and well-being. The pieces come in the colour light pink, a nod to the breast cancer ribbon, with 100 per cent of profits from the “Live/Love” products sold donated to the McGrath Foundation.
