The House of Suntory, a renowned pioneer in Japanese whisky, marks its centennial year with an exquisite addition to its celebratory lineup: the limited edition Toki Suntory whisky gift carton, a designed by Japanese artist Tansestu Ogino.
The artwork, a fusion of calligraphy and abstraction, captures the essence of “toki”, translating to “time” in Japanese. Hidden within the artwork’s brushstrokes is the Toki Kanji, symbolising tradition reinvented – a theme synonymous in the brand’s ethos. The carton not only evokes the rich heritage of Suntory whisky but also serves as a visual representation of the brand’s innovative spirit.
This artwork is a culmination of relentless dedication to quality, ingenuity, and expressiveness that has defined each of the House of Suntory’s centennial limited editions. The Toki gift carton takes centre stage, embodying the brand’s concept with dynamic brushstrokes that symbolise tradition reborn.
The whisky itself, formulated by fifth generation Suntory chief blender Shinji Fukuyo, challenges the conventional hierarchy and roles between malt and grain whisky by highlighting the quality of the Chita grain whisky not as a base but in equal standing to the Hakushu malt whisky. Select Yamazaki malt adds further depth and complexity to the blend. The TOKI Limited edition gift carton is priced at $79 for 700ml. danmurphys.com.au.
