Travel With: Wes Anderson for Montblanc Schreiberling 1969 Pen
Firmly back in the cinemagoing public’s eye, in large part due to the critical success of his new film “The Phoenician Scheme”, Wes Anderson has (inexplicably) found time to mount an array of other creative pursuits – including as Artistic Director of Montblanc.
After helming the brand’s “100 Years of Meisterstück” campaign, the American auteur has unveiled his very own writing instrument: the Schreiberling (in English, the ‘Scribbler’).
Made in a global run of 1,969 pieces, the Scribbler features a four-colour design and is constructed using a minute trip-friendly shape inspired by Montblanc’s “legendary ‘baby’ pens of the 1910s and 1920s”.

Read This: Tod’s “Italian Hands – Artisanal Stories From Italy”
Tod’s, the artisanal Italian shoemaker, has recently broadened its horizons beyond Di bags and Gommino loafers to enter the world of publishing.
In a new, credenza-ready volume titled “Italian Hands”, the brand chronicles the nation’s storied tradition of craftsmanship “through the hands of artisans” and “figures of great elegance”.
Disciplines of interest include Murano glassblowing; winemaking in Tuscany (embodied in the 31st-generation clan of Frescobaldi vignerons); the tailoring of Naples; and metal art by Milanese bronzesmith Ernesto Carati.
“This book offers a tribute to those who daily contribute to keeping a fundamental part of our cultural identity alive,” says Diego Della Valle, CEO of Tod’s.
“It is a recognition of those who know how to enhance craftsmanship, making it a symbol of authentic, timeless quality. Even for new generations.”

Shop This: Bulgari Allegra Perfumes
Earlier this week, Roman luxury house Bulgari launched its dynamic new range of mix ‘n’ match fragrances – collectively titled Allegra – in Australia.
The range consists of nine new Eau de Parfums, loosely categorised according to a particular theme or emotion. These include quintessentially Italian tropes of “passion” (e.g. Allegra Baciami) and “Happy Hours” (e.g. Rock’n’Rome).
Allegra’s significant innovation is the level of personalisation that can be achieved, once wearers start adding the range’s “Magnifying Essences” to its core fragrances.
Scent hounds are encouraged to visit the fragrances counter at David Jones Sydney to experiment with their favourite combinations. According to Victor Tesniere, Bulgari’s regional director of perfumery, up to 88 unique olfactic profiles are possible.
From $347, bulgari.com.

Wear This: Tudor Black Bay 54 ‘Lagoon Blue’
It’s de rigeur this time of year for Australian travellers to exalt the arrival of “European summer” (and all the holidays and sunshine accompanying it).
Those heading for warmer Mediterranean climes in the next month would be fortunate to have Tudor’s latest in tow: a new “Lagoon Blue” style of Black Bay 54 diver that evokes images of the blazing sun, azure water and shell-dotted beaches.
Sized at a unisex 37mm, it packs in all Tudor’s trademark techy features – the kind that watch enthusiasts love to recite aloud.
Of these, our favourite is the MT5400: the movement which imbues this Black Bay with industry-leading precision, and a power supply that allows it to run unworn for up to 70 hours.
