Watch This: Mike White in Conversation with Jennifer Coolidge
It’s third season location has recently been revealed (Thailand), but for those who can’t wait any longer to catch up on the writer and director Mike White’s darkly comic HBO anthology series, “The White Lotus”, Vivid Sydney has announced an exclusive headline event starring White and his muse, the actress Jennifer Coolidge. Joining Vivid’s 2023 program, the award-winning duo will come together for “Mike White and Jennifer Coolidge in Conversation”. Moderated by the writer Benjamin Law, White and Coolidge will discuss their respective career successes, setbacks and anecdotes from their personal experiences inside the Hollywood fame machine. The event will be hosted at the Aware Super Theatre, ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour, on Saturday 10 June. Tickets are available now.

Three years in the making, Sydney’s Wynyard railway plays host to a first-of-its-kind activation that fuses a dynamic musical soundtrack with the latest in laser, robotics, lighting and visual technology. Described as an underground spectacular of what lies beneath, “Dark Spectrum” plunges audiences into the depths of the city’s underground rail network and into an immersive multi-media environment of secret passageways. Eight rooms, bathed in different colours that correlate to distinctive human experiences, will be soundtracked by electronic music. “Dark Spectrum is a truly mesmerising and engaging experience for visitors to explore Sydney in a whole new way,” says Vivid Sydney’s festival director Gill Minervini. “I am excited we get to shine a light on unknown spaces across the city.”

English author and iconoclast, Jeanette Winterson (“The Passion”, “Sexing the Cherry”, “Written on the Body”) will appear at Vivid Ideas 2023 as part of the event’s Global Storytellers series – bringing together international creatives and thought-leaders who are creating zeitgeist-defining work. Appearing on June 3 at Sydney Town Hall, Winterson will draw on her own eccentric, fraught and comedic upbringing to explore subjects including religion, identity, nature versus nurture and sexuality in an audience address, followed by a by a moderated interview with the writer and broadcaster Richard Fidler.
