In its latest philanthropic venture, Swiss watchmakers Omega sold 11 MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold suitcases in a Sotheby’s online auction, raising a total of 534,670 CHF (approximately  $935,763 AUD). The auction, held from February 12 to 24, featured exclusive Omega x Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches, marking the first-ever collective offering of these unique timepieces. The auction’s highlight was the inclusion of the special MoonSwatch suitcase, a first-time purchase opportunity.

All proceeds from the auction will be directed to Orbis International, Omega’s dedicated long-term partner. The organisation, committed to combating avoidable blindness and vision loss worldwide, utilises funds to provide crucial eye care services and training for professionals in underserved regions. Omega’s support for Orbis since 2011 has contributed significantly to their mission of making eye care accessible globally.

“This unique auction really captured the imagination of MoonSwatch fans around the world,” says Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega. “We believe whole-heartedly in Orbis’s eye care mission and are thrilled to have raised both funds and awareness for their work.”

The “Mission to Moonshine Gold” models, with a radiant twist on the original bioceramic MoonSwatch timepieces, were displayed at 11 global Omega boutiques before finding their new homes with the highest bidders.
