Victoria Beckham and Gigi Hadid wear one. Princess Diana wore one, upholding its status as a high-class signifier of lineage and prestige, as did Jude Law in “The Talented Mr. Ripley”. And this season, the classic signet ring is vying for space on the pinky fingers of It-girls and aesthetes alike.
Traditionally stamped with a family insignia and worn by upper-class gentlemen, in 2025 the signet ring is reclaiming its name as an heirloom piece. And with dainty and barely-there giving way to sculptural, vintage and non-conformist (enter: the bezel-set, gemstone-encrusted signet), fine jewellery makers like Natasha Schweitzer, Real Fine Studio and Harkness Fine Jewellery are making a case for dramatic and sculptural silhouettes this season.
On the rise of the signet, Phoebe Harkness, one half of high-jewellery brand Harkness Fine Jewellery says, “I think it’s down to their effortlessly cool aesthetic. It’s not a style that comes and goes on the waves of a trend, so perhaps there’s a gravitation towards it as a form that can be worn daily, year after year.”
As for how to wear them, Harkness advises, “If you’re choosing a signet ring that’s more unique, I prefer to keep things simple and wear the ring solo on my pinky finger. I generally avoid layering or stacking, and I don’t wear any other rings on that hand.”
From Harkness Fine Jewellery’s emerald-set bezel cut to the classic dazzle of Monika Ruggerino’s version, here are the bold signets and future heirlooms pieces made with pinky fingers in mind.
