The Vallée de Joux, nestled in the Jura Mountains north of Geneva, has become synonymous with fine watchmaking. It was there, in 1875, that Audemars Piguet was founded by two ambitious young watchmakers, inspired, in part, by the ruggedly beautiful landscape and spectacular night skies of the region. Today, nearly 150 years later, the watches produced by the still-family-owned company are recognisable for their blend of timeless form and function.

Audemars Piguet has always positioned itself as a company that celebrates self-expression, evident in the partnerships and programs it has developed over the years. Audemars Piguet Contemporary commissions international artists to create contemporary artworks, fostering a global community of creators who use art to genuinely connect and be connected. The company is a patron of the music world, too, with its Music Programme staging live events and celebrating the musicians that, like Audemars Piguet itself, are expressing themselves pushing the limit of their art.

This celebration and encouragement of self-expression through style is especially evident in Audemars Piguet women’s watch range. In much the same way as the perfect signature fragrance might carry you from morning to midnight, an Audemars Piguet timepiece is the finishing touch for any occasion. By simply wearing a Audemars Piguet watch as a signature accessory, the wearer can highlight not only their character and personality, but also their own style.

Fully functional yet exquisitely beautiful, Audemars Piguet watches are often treated as fine jewellery that serve a purpose beyond adorning wrists, and this is particularly true with the Royal Oak 34mm Selfwinding range. The expansion of the Swiss horologist’s Royal Oak Selfwinding collection, available from luxury specialists The Hour Glass Melbourne, was released last year with smaller wrists in mind. Rendered in four references, the watches are powered by a new self-winding movement, calibre 5800, endowed with a dedicated oscillating weight specifically developed for this new 34mm version.

Two of the watches are crafted from steel, one with a silver Grande Tapisserie dial and one with a blue-grey Grande Tapisserie dial and a diamond-set bezel. The 34 mm-line also features an 18-carat pink gold model with a diamond-set bezel and silver-toned Grande Tapisserie dial, and a two-tone model combining a steel case and bracelet with an 18-carat pink gold bezel and bracelet links, fronted by a silver-toned Grande Tapisserie dial.

Each of these timepieces is elegantly expressive and subtly attention-grabbing; a Royal Oak 34mm Selfwinding watch is the perfect accessory for any occasion.
