In late 2022, Maserati unveiled the newest chapter in the 75-year legacy of the GranTurismo. Inspired by the marque’s very first production road car – the A6 1500 – this next-generation coupé reflects ideals essential to the Trident’s modern identity: timeless design, purposeful beauty and advanced engineering.
That philosophy runs through all three trim levels – including the fully electric Folgore – but this month, our focus is on the petrol-powered Modena and Trofeo. Both variants are powered by the Nettuno V6, Maserati’s in-house engine that, in the brand’s own words, is “born to race [and] bred for long distances”.

Even in the Modena – featuring the more, shall we say, genteel of the two dual-combustion setups – drivers can go ‘0 to 100’ in 3.9 seconds: performance that’s accompanied by sonorous aural charm and plenty of long-distance efficiency.
Naturally, performance is only one part of the GranTurismo’s appeal. To see how this elegant machine adapts to everyday pace, we took it for a tour around Sydney – pairing its comfortable design and full technological suite with a handful of the city’s favourite fashion retailers.
Propulsive Design in Surry Hills
Up close and on city streets, every GranTurismo cuts a sharp line that drives even more sharply – thanks to a technical architecture fashioned using unprecedented levels of aluminium. 65 percent of the car’s chassis is made of the lightweight stuff, which together with steel and magnesium help to ensure superior weight distribution, and razor-sharp handling.
This multi-material approach requires wholesale invention of new manufacturing processes – evoking the same ethos of innovation you’ll find thumbing through waterproof and crease-resistant fabrics at Mawson Ossa.
Down a quiet side street, the contemporary tailoring firm crafts sleek, functional suiting using crease-resistant, travel-ready fabrics. The aesthetic: confident, unfussy, and cut for movement. Much like the GranTurismo itself.

Impressive Interiors in Paddington
The GranTurismo’s cabin is as considered as its drivetrain. Designed to comfortably accommodate four, it’s a space defined by both luxury and logic. Surfaces are wrapped in soft-touch materials; encased in details of carbon fibre, open-pore wood and ECONYL – a regenerated nylon that speaks to Maserati’s forward-thinking approach.
Technology is seamlessly integrated. At the centre of the console, a 33-inch touchscreen display powers Maserati’s Intelligent Assistant (MIA): a system that allows driver and passenger to control cabin settings via touch, voice and even gesture. From navigation to media playback, everything is intuitive – a useful advantage whether you’re heading cross-country or simply across town.
In a neighbourhood like Paddington, the GranTurismo’s mix of heritage and innovation feels right at home. Iconic retail spots like Parlour X channel a similar blend – merging cutting-edge independent designers and classic names in luxury fashion.

“All-Round Sound” in Newtown
Any car can be loud. But the GranTurismo is symphonic. With its finely tuned exhaust, the Nettuno V6 produces a sonorous, lion-like growl – a visceral soundtrack for those in and out of the driver’s seat.
Inside the cabin, that emotion is complemented by acoustic engineering of a different kind. All GranTurismo models come equipped with a bespoke Sonus Faber sound system: 14 speakers delivering 860 watts of crisp, balanced audio.
For those intent on listening to Andrea Bocelli at stomach-rumbling volumes, an optional “High Premium” package upgrades the system to a total of 19 speakers and full 3D surround sound.
That immersive sonic landscape feels especially resonant in Newtown – a suburb where music is as much a part of the landscape as independent retail. Along King Street, Maplestore caters to a cult following of early adopters who appreciate craftsmanship and innovation.
The store stocks a range of refined performancewear, including pieces by ROA – an Italian label whose alpine-inspired technical gear brings fashion and function into equally sharp focus.
Between this and T Australia’s favourite retailers in Surry Hills and Paddington, shoppers will find a selection of fashion energised by the same principles as the GranTurismo.
Form and function seamlessly fused, and style which looks its best while in motion.
